Welcome to the new REMFs Website Smile

The latest news on all the Regimental events in 2009 is now on the www.korbr.co.uk website

BACK ON LINE.  The 'old' www.korbr.co.uk website is now back on-line and the website name (URL) has been registered for the next five years.
TWITTER.  We now have a fully functional secure Chat Room for registered users.  Use it like Twitter - Just leave a short message or respond to someone elses message each time you login.
The new www.korbr.co.uk website is well on the way to completion and will merge soon with this one under the www.korbr.co.uk banner.  It is however intended to keep the www.remfs.co.uk website for more casual activities.

KORBRBadge.jpg - 4.41 KbIntroduction
We now have over 50 registered regular users of this new website and plans to superceed the current www.korbr.co.uk website with a new password protected website based on this one but looking just like the present www.korbr.co.uk one are well advanced.  Can I ask you please to assist in making this a secure website by registering and using a long number that you will never forget as your password - you can of course add a few intials to your cherished number or use a combination of both to make it even more secure but passwords like "fred" and "felix" or words that can be found in the dictionary are too easily cracked.  Registration will get you access to the more interesting areas of the site like the new discussion forum where you will be made most welcome.  Checkout the forum for information about the Laying Up of the Regimental Colours on Saturday 7th February 2009.
KORBRBadge.jpg - 4.41 KbUpdates and Additions
We have just uploaded a stack of photos from Dave Elwood taken in Aden, Bahrain, and Oman so if you haven't logged in please do so to see the links to the Photo Album and Discussion forum.  If you haven't registered or you have forgotten your password just click on the relevant links to the left of this item and do so.  It only takes a few minutes and it is well worth the effort.

KORBRBadge.jpg - 4.41 KbWebsite info
I have created a few articles here on the front page to let everyone know what is happening so do please read them.  If you come accross an article about Joomla do not panic as Joomla is the software that runs the website and the Joomla content is derived from the database which populates the pages of our website.  As I start to populate the website with Regimental content the Joomla stuff will disappear and the menu items will be replaced by our own.

Regimental Photo Album PDF Print E-mail

There are currently two Regimental on-line photo albums - one is hosted on www.korbr.co.uk on a server in the States and the other is part of this website www.remfs.co.uk which is hosted in England on my own server.  They both run under a fabulous program called Coppermine and between them we have had over quarter of a million visits.  Hopefully I will manage to get all the photos into one completely updated album, with over two thousand photos, on my own server and transfer the www.korbr.co.uk website to UK.  But you can imagine the amount of work done so far and still to do. The short term aim is to consolidate what we already have whilst continuing to provide an on-going service to our Regimental family.

About this website PDF Print E-mail

This website is run in association with www.korbr.co.uk which is the main web presence of the Kings Own Royal Border Regiment and all those associated with it.  Both www.korbr.co.uk and www.remfs.co.uk are privately owned and have no connection with any 'authorised'  organisation eg The MOD.

The World Wide Web address of this website and www.korbr.co.uk have been bought and can be used for whatever purpose we see fit without undue influence from any serving or former member of the Regiment, the MOD, or the Establishment. It is your website and you are very welcome - please use it. I wrote this two ears ago "Guarantee: This website will still exist and represent the Regiment once the MOD closes the official Kings Own Royal Border Regiment website at:
http://www.army.mod.uk/korbr/"  Do not bother trying as it has already been moved from its own address and is now part of a much bigger formation.  However, you can always try searching Google for KORBR and see what happens Laughing

The webmaster looks forward to hearing your proposals and suggestions or enquiries which you are welcome to leave on the forum.   It would be nice to hear from anyone who has ever been connected in any way with the Kings Own Royal Border Regiment or any part of the old or new Regimental Family. Please note: Abusive, threatening, and condescending emails, forum postings and other uncomradely behaviour will immediately incure retaliation and thier IP address will be sanctioned unmercifully.

Discussion Forum PDF Print E-mail

Since writing this I have relented due to popular demand and enable usage of the other 'simple' forum.  Please be aware that it is not owned or controlled by me and may disappear forever without notice.

The other website www.korbr.co.uk has a discussion forum on it which is run under a database driven program called PHPBB and is still open to visitors for reading but please DO NOT register or otherwise try to do anything other than read the large number of very interesting posts from so many of the Regimental Family.  The reason for this is that the discussion forum became so popular that it was frequently targeted by hackers and spam merchants which meant that I spent a lot of time sorting out the spam and building stronger security rather than developing the website.

Could I ask all visiting members of the Kings Own Royal Border Regiment family to please register using the link at the bottom of the left hand column of the front page of this website.  Registration is a quick and simple process and will allow you to access the restricted areas of this website using one username and password throughout each visit.  Not only will registration enable you to fully use this website but it will also enable the webmaster to gain some idea of the support for the website and enable us to illustrate that support to others.
